Background and ExpertiseMr. Altman has been engaged in the practice of law since 1989, primarily serving the international transportation and logistics industry. He currently represents companies of all sizes in a wide array of legal matters including international commercial transactions, complex multinational transportation and distribution agreements, labor and employment matters, joint venture agreements and regulatory compliance. Mr. Altman regularly handles a variety of issues before numerous federal regulatory agencies including the Federal Maritime Commission, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Foreign Assets Control, Department of State, Department of Commerce and Department of Transportation.
In addition to working in private practice, Mr. Altman spent many years holding prominent positions in corporate legal departments including Air Express International Corp. (Assistant General Counsel, North America), Danzas AEI (Vice President and General Counsel, North America), Savino Del Bene USA, Inc. (Vice President and General Counsel) and IJS Global Holdings, Inc. (now known as GEFCO Forwarding USA Inc.).
Over the years, Mr. Altman has worked on several mergers and acquisitions involving major logistics companies, including the merger and integration of Danzas and AEI in which he was responsible for overseeing the legal, regulatory and human resource functions throughout North America. Mr. Altman has also served as an advisor to several well-known and influential industry groups including Cargo 2000, affiliated with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Earlier in his career, Mr. Altman worked for several well-established law firms in New York including Plunkett & Jaffe and Anderson, Banks, Curran & Donoghue.
Pro Bono PracticeMr. Altman has been active in organizations offering no-cost legal services for not-for-profit community organizations and underprivileged individuals. He has been recognized by The Pro Bono Partnership of New York, which has awarded him its Outstanding Pro Bono Lawyer honor.
Attorney CLE InstructionMr. Altman has taught courses for attorneys on corporations at the Pace University Center for Continuing Legal Education and has conducted seminars in the field of employment law for attorneys and HR professionals.
